Why Social Media Traffic Matters

Social Media Traffic Matters

I did a bit of window shopping at the weekend, three hours of pavement pounding and only a few pounds spent. I’m a typical woman and can easily spend hours browsing around the high street stores making mental lists about what I want to buy in future or what I can get my Mum for her next birthday. Now I bet your asking why this has anything to do with why social media traffic matters.

So, I’ll explain. I never have a list of predefined shops I want to look around, I just head into the ones where something in the shop window catches my eye or where I can see bargains or bright sparkly things which will entice me.

Some people think window shopping is a waste of time, a total waste of effort. But, I always remember where I have seen something appealing and head back there when I have the money to spare or genuine need for the item to purchase. I use my own personal brain based bookmark.

I use social media in much the same way.

I’ll like or follow a page/profile because it looks good and the page owners are knowledgeable and sociable; I won’t always purchase what they are offering immediately, however, I do go back to visit their page and then website when I need the product or service they’re offering.

Small business owners can be pretty divided when it comes to their thoughts on the value of social media.

Some people try it, but don’t really have the right strategy. Others have an okay strategy but don’t have the follow through. In both of these instances they need a social media manager or a virtual assistant who specialises in social media to help them.

The main problem comes when people are looking for a magical quick fix strategy that will bring them tons of traffic with little to no work. You can’t just post a pretty picture on Facebook and expect people to flock to your website. In simple terms… You have to tell them why the picture is relevant, how it will help them and how they can see more like it on your website. You have to let them know that their life will change for the better when they buy it.

Success with social media isn’t about how popular you look and it does take work! If ‘Likes’ and ‘followers’ aren’t converting to customers or visiting your website then your strategy isn’t right. You need that sparkly enticer; you need to inform, engage and help to convert your followers into customers.

It’s a lot easier than you think to get traffic on your social media sites … if you do it the right way.

Social Media Traffic Matters

Social media is fascinating because it can be used wastefully or you can reap the benefits. It is a social space where people share pictures of their breakfast, after all. It’s a place where people share their ups and downs. Their boring days and their drama filled days and where people look for products and services.

It’s very easy to lose yourself in social media for an entire day with nothing to show for it. That’s part of the reason why some business people suggest that social media “doesn’t work” Hopefully you’ll get to see that social media traffic matters if you:

Stop thinking about social media as a place to waste time and instead, think about its possibilities.

You want traffic to your website?

Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn have a ton of it. People from all walks of life and interests visit those sites religiously. Sometimes for pleasure, sometimes to solve a problem or find something they want. Sometimes they use it to keep track of the sites and business they already know and love, and this is powerful.

Your job is to tap into the traffic that already exists and funnel it to your own site. You want to build a great relationship with people who will be interested in your product or service. Or in other words get noticed on that busy bustling High Street.

You don’t have to spend a ton of money (or any money, really) on driving traffic to your website. You can use the traffic that already exists. Push aside the other social media strategies you may have tried in the past – it’s time to implement a streamlined strategy that works.

And what do you know, I can help you to do this, I’ll help you to realise that Social Media Traffic Matters.
